At Aktau airport it is now possible to present a digital ID card via the eGov Mobile application to confirm personal details. Earlier this service became available in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Aktobe, Shymkent and Turkestan airports.
In order to use digital ID at the airport, an authorized user in eGov mobile application needs to enter the "Digital Documents" service and select an ID from the list. At the airport check-in desk as well as at the pre-flight security check, a smartphone screen with a QR code generated by the service must be shown.
The opportunity to use digital identity card on domestic flights appeared in Kazakhstan due to the joint efforts to integrate the systems of the Civil Aviation Committee, Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan", airlines and airports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC "National Information Technology".
The digital document service is in a pilot mode, and flights using digital documents are only available between the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Aktobe, Shymkent, Turkestan and Aktau. Passengers who plan to use the service at the above-mentioned airports are advised to bring their original ID card with them during the pilot period.
